About the role
We are looking for a Climate & Water Solutions Manager as our first strategic hire in the US. This person is able to engage with corporate sustainability teams, combine technical agricultural and water knowledge, and drive multi-stakeholder projects forward, while sustaining an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset. Your primary task will be to identify and capitalize on business growth opportunities in the US while representing the company in conversations about Water Stewardship. You will need to work closely with cross-functional teams within Kilimo, including Operations, Marketing and technical experts in Agronomy and Climate Adaptation.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Analysis and Strategy:
- Conduct thorough research on the USA market, understanding customer needs, competitive dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Identify trends and opportunities that can drive business growth.
- Sales & Business Development:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to enter new customer segments or expand existing ones
- Set clear short- and long-term revenue goals, ensuring actionable strategies to meet objectives.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to attract and engage potential clients, present Kilimo’s solutions, and negotiate contracts.
- Own end-to-end customer relationships, from origination, sales negotiation and customer success.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, partners, and government entities to create a robust network.
- Lead conversations with key companies to integrate climate action and water stewardship projects into their sustainability strategies.
- Innovation and Adaptability:
- Propose innovative solutions and refine Kilimo’s strategies based on market feedback and evolving dynamics.
- Stay updated on new tools, technologies, and processes to maintain agility and relevance.
Requisitos
Requirements
- Educational Background: Business, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.
- Professional Experience:
- At least 5 years in corporate sustainability, business development or sales roles
- Preferred qualifications:
- Corporate experience in sustainability-focused roles.
- Experience in water stewardship and/or agricultural irrigation efficiency
- Languages: English (full professional proficiency) and fluent Spanish (required).
- Location: Residing in California
- Skills:
- High analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills for a remote, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changes.
- Driven and entrepreneurial, comfortable with outbound engagement
